Nothing beats a cool summer breeze in Gonzales unless it’s a game of softball between two adult teams.
RC Farm sponsored team, with orange and black uniforms, played against the Aanko Technologies, in red and white, last Wednesday at Centennial Park.
This, the first game of the evening, began with some friendly camaraderie between the reds and oranges then the game began.
RC Farms went up to base first and Albert Camacho made the first hit, followed by Beka Kaupp and Jess Escobar and then Angela Romero.
The game ended with RC Farms taking the win with a score of 13, and Aanko Technologies close with a score of 10.
“We have ten teams, two more than last year, and there are two leagues,” said Recreation Director Sara Papineau-Brandt. “It’s going great, people come out to watch even if they don’t know anyone who’s playing. It’s a fun family outing.”
In the good old summer time, the city recreation is going full steam with field trips, August 12 to the boardwalk, for example, water fitness, swim lessons, tennis, free movie night at the park, night swim, and lots of teen activities.
