Young Guns continue to dominate softball league
Posted: Wednesday, Jul 28th, 2010

Summer entertainment is still ongoing at the city softball diamond during the final portion of the King City Adult League.

One of the most recent games that caused the crowds to roar was the battle of the batters played last Thursday between the Young Guns and Heavy Contact. The game ended in less than 45 minutes with the Young Guns far ahead, 28-3.

“All around we all did good,” said Young Guns Coach Chito Soto. “Every single player on our team got a base hit. We all hit the ball. We just dominated today.”

Heavy Contact Coach Chato Sainz understandably said he didn't want to comment on the game. His outfielders had to watch first hand as multiple balls were hit right over the fence, though they struggled to climb and catch on every occasion. His own batters returned the favor, also letting the Young Guns feel the sting of watching balls fly over the fence into the golf course.

Adrian Perez was one Young Guns batter that delivered softballs to the golf course beyond the softball diamond's fence. “He went for a cycle today,” said Soto. “He had a home run, double, and triple. He pretty much did everything today.” Overall he said Perez is one of multiple hitters on the team that can consistently hit well.

Soto also noted Aaron Gomez for doing well and contributing to victory. “He hit two home runs and went four-for-five,” Soto said.

The Young Guns and Heavy Hitters are joined by the Rockies and the Balco Bombers as being regarded as the four strongest teams in the league.

Soto said Heavy Contact is considered a rival for his team, as well as the others. He added, “We have four competitive teams out there, so when you have any of them play you have competition. Pretty much this is what we do. It's for fun out here.”
