In the first game of the night, Team AJ controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish to defeat the team Mad Skills, 58-38. The second game of the night finally brought team Elite their first win of the season over a scrappy team Showtime Warriors, 58-44.
The last game of the night became an instant classic. The game pitted team Lights Out from Soledad and Cherry Pickers from Greenfield, with both teams boasting former High School All Leaguers. Both teams played their hearts and Lights Out almost won in regulation, but a technical gave the Cherry Pickers the opportunity to send the game into overtime.
Finally, it was in double overtime, that the Cherry Pickers were finally able to pull away and win, 80-75.
July 18
With a clear height advantage, Wells Fargo never let up and handily defeated team Azteca by a score of 93-32. In the second game of the night, the Runners lived up to their name. Team Regulators did everything to contain them, but the Runners moved the ball around and had nine different players score as they won 54-40.
The third game of the night was a hard fought physical game between two teams from Greenfield, the Bulls and Greenfield Thunder. At the end, it was Greenfield Thunder’s deep bench who helped the team stay strong and win 44-35.
Team Astigs was clutch in the final seconds of their game. Different players came through with key plays at the end as Astigs squeaked by the KC Titans 46-44.
In what may have been the loudest cheering the YMCA has ever seen, team Ballistic and team Comeback City, duked it out. The game pitted family members against each other. In the end, it Comeback City’s cheering section was bigger and helped their team win by a score of 69-50.
